HOW DO I ADOPT A KITTEN?

Moonscape

ADOPTING A KITTeN...

Adopting a Kitten as a Pet:

  • All kittens are spayed/neutered prior to leaving our cattery. This cost is factored into the price of the kitten.

  • Pet contract must be agreed to and signed.

Adopting a Kitten for Breeding:

  • Kittens who meet our health, type and temperament criteria will be available for breeding to Registered Catteries only.

  • Breeding contracts must be agreed upon, signed and upheld.

Kitten Prices:

There are a lot of factors involved in the pricing of kittens. One must consider that high quality breeding animals that have been genetically tested for diseases are not cheap, especially if the pedigrees are sought after or imported from other countries. Factor into this the cost of high quality food and supplements, appropriate facilities conducive to raise physically and emotionally healthy animals, vaccines, routine and emergency Veterinary care, genetic testing, show exhibitions, and website maintenance.

I do charge a higher price for kittens sold with breeding rights. This price reflects the research, hard work and costs involved in making breeding decisions and cultivating a line, as well as the extra rights granted along with the kitten.

That being said, I do not charge extra money for “trendy” or sought after colors (smoke, shaded, etc.) or traits (polydactyl, etc.). Maine Coons come in a variety of shapes, sizes, colors and patterns, and all are equally valuable in my humble opinion.  I started in the business of breeding cats to better the breed, and therefore try to make decisions always keeping that principal in mind.

Pet Pricing:  $3000
Breeder Pricing:  $4000
Older Kittens (under 1 year):  $1500
Young Adult (over 1 year):  $1000
Retired Breeder:  $500 - $1000 (depending on age, gender, etc.)

U.S Pricing
:

Average pricing for 2024 is ranging anywhere from $2500 to $5500 or more for a well bred, properly health screened pedigreed Maine Coon kitten in the United States. Many breeders charge extra for certain color (especially high smokes and shaded kittens) and traits (such as blue eyes and polydactyl).

RESERVING YoUR KITTEN...

Wait List:

Our cattery keeps a limited waiting list of 20 future adopters. A deposit is required to join our waiting list.  Once a litter reaches 8 weeks of age we will send a newsletter to everyone on the waiting list listing all available kittens. You will have three (3) business days to respond if you are interested in a specific kitten. Preference will be given based on waiting list order as well as breeding potential.

We believe in placing each individual kitten in the best homes possible. We try to match kittens with owners based on the individual needs and circumstances of the families, as well as the temperaments of the kittens. Our goal is to have happy owners and healthy, thriving kittens! Talamascan Maine Coons reserves the right to refuse the sale of any kitten/cat when we believe that it is not in the best interest of the animal.

If you live in California, Arizona or Las Vegas, you can expect your kitten to be delivered (for a small fee to cover gas).

Outside of these areas, Courier
Service is available, and is the best way to transport your kitten both out of State and Internationally. Shipping cargo is very hard on an animal and can cause a great deal of stress. Being moved on a pallet by a forklift, waiting in the cargo hold, and being exposed to outside temperatures can all have a detrimental effect a young kitten. Courier Services can range from $500 (within the US) to $1500 and above for International delivery. We will work with you to ensure the safest travel options possible.

If you choose to pick up your kitten, Las Vegas International Airport is the closest airport for you to fly into. Health Certificates and Delivery to the airport can be arranged for a minimal fee.
